Another type of cutting board would be the plastic cutting board.  As the name implies, it is made with plastic, particularly polyethylene. Being made with plastic, this type of cutting board is quite easy to clean as they are safe to use on the dishwasher. Aside from that, it is also possible to choose among several colors, keeping your kitchen organized. However, the big disadvantage on this type of cutting board is that, knives can cause grooves on it, which can harbor bacteria, making it unsafe to use.


Aside from wood and plastic, there is also the glass type of cutting boards. However, this is not considered to be an ideal type since it can be very hard on the blades of the knives. It can easily cause dullness of the blade of your knife. The glass can also get chipped off over time which can possibly get into the food. However, just like the plastic type, the glass type is also easy to clean and can also be used on the dishwasher, which saves you the hassle of cleaning it.
